The Backstory

Poseidon is a first-generation Olympian. He is a major player in the Greek Mythology World. When Zeus overthrew his father, he did so with the help of the other Olympians and some of the Titans. in the aftermath, the three brothers, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon drew lots to discover who would rule what part of existence. Poseidon drew the seas.

Poseidon believes he is equal to Zeus. So, he had no problem trying to overthrow him with Apollo and Hera, at her request. Zeus found out and sent him to Troy as a slave. There Poseidon was tasked with building the walls and foundation of the city, with Apollo.

Both Athena and Poseidon wanted to be the patrons of the Acropolis. To prove their value, each had to present the city with a gift. He struck the Earth and created a spring of seawater which really did not do anyone any good. Athena gave an olive branch, which cold feed, shelter, and provide oil to the city. They named the city, Athens, for their new patron, Athena.
